Spring is in full swing at MMBDA!
As our school is growing, I am happy to announce a new addition to our Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy 16th Street staff! It is our pleasure to welcome Mr. Ramsay who joins us as our building custodian. Mr. Ramsay has worked with our school for over a year at the main campus, and he has helped on several projects at 16th Street, including Family Gardening Day 2019. We are very glad to have his care and attention to our school building.
Here's a brief rundown of some activities popping up in May:
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6th through 10th! The MMBDA PTO has planned a week of activities to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our early childhood team. Refer to PTO emails or contact the main office to see how you can join in.
Muffins with Moms will take place on Friday, May 10th. Our staff has planned this show of appreciation for all mothers in the school community. Moms, if you can, please make arrangements to spend 10-15 minutes with us during AM drop-off. We will have muffins, coffee and juice for moms, as well as special gifts and a photo booth.
The Annual Mothers' Tea will take place at our Brookland location (1404 Jackson Street NE) on Saturday, May 11th, t from 1–3 PM. Mothers and students are invited to attend this extra special event with tea, food, music, and more.
Reminder: Tuesday, May 28th has been changed from Parent Teacher Conference Day to a school day for students. This change to the calendar was necessitated by days missed due to inclement weather. Stay tuned for information about conference arrangements.
Spring Exhibition will be Wednesday, May, 29th at 6 PM. This is the extra special time of year when our students showcase what their talents and knowledge through performances and classroom exhibitions. Please plan to attend.
