Get Involved!

At MMBDA, we recognize that a child's first and most influential teacher is you, the parent or guardian. You can help your child and the school by connecting with teachers and staff to find out what is needed to ensure success and how you can help reach that goal. Studies of successful schools report that parent involvement is a major factor in their outcomes, including closing the achievement gap between various groups of students. Improving the effectiveness of the home as a learning environment is critical to promoting long-term school success.

Donate your time - Volunteer

We are always looking for volunteers. Tutors, mentors, guest speakers, fundraisers, and educational demonstrations can help us to carry out our mission. If you have a green thumb, you can put it to good use in our community garden.  Interested parties should click here to download the MMBDA volunteer application and background check requirement details, and submit all paperwork to the Business Office in the Brookland campus.

The Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy Parent Teacher Organization welcomes all parents, staff & faculty and members of the MMBDA community to join in the discussion of how parents, teachers & staff can work together to improve our school. The MMBDA PTO is dedicated to serving the needs of the students, school and parent community by providing a centralized group that fosters parent involvement and allows for resources, talents & communication to be shared across all volunteer efforts, parent-driven activities, and fundraising.

The PTO meets monthly to plan activities, fundraisers and other initiatives to support our school community.
