Everyone can get in on the fun this summer by participating in DC Public Library's virtual Summer Challenge sponsored by the DC Public Library Foundation! By reading just 20 minutes each day, whether it is a book, magazine or blog, you can keep your mind engaged while earning prizes. The Library is also hosting special virtual programs for readers of all ages throughout the summer! Read on to learn more.

If you've participated in any of the Library's reading programs in the past, you can log in to your existing account with your username and password. Please make sure that you enter a valid email address, even if you have participated in reading programs in the past. Email will be how the library notifies you about prizes and other aspects of Summer Challenge. If you have trouble registering you can email [email protected] or call 202-747-1017 for adults and 202-747-5054 for children, teens and families.

Track Your Reading

Track the amount of time you read each day in Beanstack. Not sure how to log your reading online? Email [email protected] for assistance. If you have a printer you can also download and print a paper game board. If you require accommodations, please email the Center for Accessibility at [email protected].

Win Prizes

Log your reading each day to earn prizes sponsored by the DC Public Library Foundation. There are virtual prizes available for all age ranges throughout the summer with a chance to earn special grand prizes in August. Prizes will support some of your favorite local businesses like Politics and ProseBusboys and Poets and Shop Made In DC.

Super Reader Challenge

If you love to read, the Library invites you to sign up for the Super Reader Challenge. By reading above and beyond 20 minutes a day you can be eligible for additional prizes sponsored by the DC Public Library Foundation!! 


 

Know Your Power Teen Art Contest

The DC Public Library Foundation and Pepco have teamed up with DC Public Library to host a contest for artists, writers, photographers and musicians between the ages of 13 - 19. Starting May 18, teens can submit creative work on a social issue to the Know Your Power creative arts contest. Learn more and submit your creative work on the contest page.
