This year, our scholars participated in several activities leading up to our annual program held on February 28. Our art teachers Ms Hopkins and Ms. Muhammad assisted students with creating several creative art pieces throughout the building. Our music teachers Ms. Little and Mr. Brockenberry hosted black history movie days throughout the month that highlighted important films about African-American heroes. Dr. McKay sponsored an essay contest in which we had two student winners, Wayne Lin and Sankofa Gudger, won Chipotle gift cards. Finally, each grade level participated in a black history program which highlighted information they were learning in class about important figures in history.
