Dear Families,

My name is Marcus Duffin, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Mary McLeod Bethune
Day Academy Public Charter School for the 2024–2025 school year. This marks my 17th year in
education, and I am truly excited to meet our amazing students and families in the coming
weeks.

I am a proud graduate of Wake Forest University, where I earned a B.A. in Secondary Education
with a minor in Humanities. I also hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from
Columbia College. Over the past decade, I have served as a school administrator, following
seven wonderful years as a humanities teacher. As a veteran educator, I bring a deep passion
for teaching and learning, and I am fully committed to advancing our school’s vision for
excellence.

The mission of Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy PCS is to implement a high-performing
day school that offers a rigorous academic program in a supportive, family-engaged, and
diverse learning environment. We aim to nurture every child’s academic success, talent, and
social development—and I wholeheartedly believe in this mission. Every student deserves
access to a world-class education, and their safety, well-being, and growth are our top priorities.
We take great pride in the vibrant, inclusive culture we’ve cultivated here at Bethune, where
