Sanjay Singh has been a dedicated educator in Washington, DC since the onset of his career in 2002 upon graduating from The University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science. He served as a Corps Member for Teach For America for the first two years of his career at John Greenleaf Whittier Elementary School. While at Whittier, he was a fifth grade teacher for six years before transitioning to Instructional Coach.
During this time, he demonstrated exceptional classroom success, assisting in helping to close the achievement gap for his students and achieving Annual Yearly Progress on both the Stanford 10 and DC CAS. Sanjay received Master of Arts in Teaching and another Master of Arts in Education during his tenure at Whittier; one from Trinity Washington University and the other from Columbia University, Teachers College.
In 2011, Sanjay began his administrative career as the Academic Director at Thurgood Marshall Academy, Public Charter High School. During his time at TMA, the school maintained a 100% college acceptance rate for all graduating seniors, Tier 1 status for all years under his leadership as well as Reward designation on OSSE’s newly unveiled school report card.
In 2014, Sanjay transitioned to Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy, Public Charter School as their Assistant Principal. He has served in this capacity as well as being appointed the IB Coordinator to oversee their PYP Candidacy Phase of their IB World application.
