Art

The Art program at Mary McLeod Bethune Day Academy Public Charter School helps scholars evolve into critical thinkers and well-rounded achievers. Students are offered the opportunities to explore different disciplines of art, such as drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Before beginning the creative process students are enriched with information on artist, art history and different techniques through Power Point Presentations, live demonstrations, and imagery from various publications. Scholars also participate in oral critiques to help them learn how to discuss their artwork using art terminology along with the International Baccalaureate vocabulary. Critiques enable scholars to create dialogue about their work and strengthen their public speaking. Overall, our goal is to help scholars become innovators and create aesthetically pleasing artwork.
